Member of the Month - August 2025

Obi Fekadu

Oct MOM

Age 15

How you got started with figure skating?

I used to live in the area before and during the construction of Ice In Paradise. My parents were curious and visited the facility while it was being built, as we lived nearby. We found out it was going to be an ice-skating rink. Once construction was complete, I got an opportunity to try ice skating and enrolled in the Learn to Skate program for 30-minute weekly lessons until the COVID-19 pandemic hit, after which I didn’t skate for over two years. I returned to 30-minute weekly lessons around the summer of 2022.

What are your favorite moves on the ice?

Axel, Double Salchow, Double Loop, Haircutter spin, Mushroom spin, and Hydroblade

What are your figure skating goals?

As of now, my goal is to continue improving jumps and spins, as well as taking more USFS Skating Skills tests.

Congratulations to our member of the month - Obi!
